Travel in the area is fast and efficient being well served by several transport routes. More transport routes are planned for the next few years.

Underground

Central, Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Jubilee Lines all run through the area. The Jubilee Line is very convenient for reaching Canary Wharf - from there you can travel to Central London in just 20 minutes.  For further information go to www.tfl.gov.uk 

Docklands Light Railway

The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) serves stations for Canary Wharf, Greenwich, Stratford, the Royal Docks and London City Airport. Trains run on this line every 3-4 minutes. Rail travel

Mainline rail stations London Bridge and Liverpool Street are right on the edge of East London. Victoria, Euston and Paddington stations all connect with underground lines which run through to East London.  For further information go to www.tfl.gov.uk/rail 

Eurostar - rail to Europe

St Pancras International, next to Kings Cross station, is the departure point for all Eurostar services from 14 November 2007. The move from Waterloo to St. Pancras means Eurostar services can offer faster services:

• London to Paris: 2 hours 15 mins
• London to Brussels: 1hour 51 mins
• London to Lille: 1 hour 20 mins.

Road Links

A network of major roads links East London to the national motorway network, airports, ports in the east and the south east, the Channel Tunnel and the European road network.

River

Airports

London City Airport

Flights operate from London City Airport to most UK regional airports and 36 key European destinations. The DLR runs from London City Airport to the City in just 22 minutes and to Canary Wharf in 14 minutes. DLR services also run from the airport to Canning Town, connecting with the Jubilee Line and on to other London Underground stations.

Heathrow

London Underground (Piccadilly Line) and the Heathrow Express from Paddington Station both run to Heathrow. The best routes by road are via the M25 and A4/M4 motorways.

Gatwick

Gatwick serves most European destinations and several trans-atlantic and international cities. Gatwick is one hour's drive from East London via the Blackwall Tunnel or the Queen Elizabeth II Road Bridge at Dartford. The Thameslink rail service runs to Gatwick from Blackfriars station, and the Gatwick Express runs every 30 minutes from Victoria station.
