The day looks at the influence of women’s magazines and the changing representations of femininity, examining how readers have been shaped by the magazines they read, from the early 1800s, introducing ideas of femininity and fashion styles to the influential liberation journals of Spare Rib in the 70s. Leading academics will present their research into the world of women’s magazines.
