Summer Sounds Music and Food Festival
Cabot Place, Jubilee Place and Churchill Place
2010-06-21
A fabulous festival to celebrate the longest day of the year based on France’s Fete de la Musique with music from all four corners of the world including Bhangra, Cuban, Brazilian and traditional English roots music. Expect buskers, string quartets, music processions and many musical surprises throughout the day.
At 7pm a free evening concert in Canada Square Park features a new commission, The Compass Suite, featuring four composers: James Morton, Kathryn Tickell, currently working with Sting, and Kishon Khan; all coordinated by Alex Wilson and supported by the wonderful and extraordinary British Carnival sound of Kinetika Bloco.
No celebration would be complete without a feast so look no further than the gourmet Summer Sounds Food Festival in Canada Square Park. Throughout the day you will find stalls overflowing with mouth-watering provisions from around the world supplied by a wide variety of companies many holding a coveted Royal Warrant.
On offer will be a giant paella, bread and pastries, olives, seafood, cheese and much, much more plus delicious lunch and supper options from around the world from Thai to French, Italian to Japanese.
