Celebrate 3 Year Countdown To 2012 with Formans
2009-07-27
On Monday 27th July, Lance Forman, of leading London smokehouse H Forman & Son is hosting his own celebrations at Formans Restaurant with a gastronomic dinner to remember. Diners will be served a best of British menu featuring classic dishes served with a witty twist. The spectacular finale, an ode to ex London Mayor Ken Livingstone, will be a Gourmet Walnut Whip;
“To get the Games for the price of a walnut whip a week is a bargain” Ken Livingstone, 2007
With the Formans Gourmet walnut whip selling at the comparatively princely sum of £5, the statement certainly rings true! Here’s the rest of the menu;
Forman’s Famous London Cure Smoked Salmon
-without the Forman’s relocation there would be no Olympic stadium
Beef Wellington
-fine fillet steak housed in a pastry case or, “steak-holder” [sic]: just like the British taxpayer
Gourmet Walnut Whip
-proving Ken Livingstone really did know what he was talking about.
Aside from the fiver-a-piece walnut whip, the remainder of the menu is a positively frugal price of £20.12, with house Champagne (Chapel Down’s award winning Sparkling Brut) selling at £20.12 instead of the usual £32.50.
The stadium is on top of the site of Forman’s old factory which they were forced to vacate following a compulsory purchase order. Their new factory on the appropriately named Fish Island is the closest building in London to the site of the new stadium, a “canapé’s throw” across the River Lea, giving the diners in Formans Restaurant unrivalled views of the whole site.
