“The most vital art event of the summer” NY Arts Magazine
Home to the highest concentration of artists in the whole of Europe, Hackney Wick on Fish Island is a veritable melting pot of creativity, with specialists in graphic, furniture and fashion design, as well as photographers, artists and musicians.
As a major sponsor of Hackney WickED, Formans is simultaneously hosting ‘In Place, A Wall’, and ‘Jamais Vu’ (‘Never Seen’).
In addition local graffiti artists will be permanently transforming Forman’s Fish Island venue’s restrooms with his own brand of witty urbanism, and Alison David, a stunning soul singer who has been likened to Billie Holiday and Nina Simone, will be performing at the private view.
Formans new Restaurant will be open throughout the three-day event providing the finest quality food in East London, all produced on site in the smokehouse including their world-famous smoked salmon, along with award winning English wines and beers.
“We are proud to be a major sponsor of such an exciting and far-reaching arts festival. To have the opportunity to showcase artists from around Hackney Wick and support the local community is a real honour for Forman’s. Our own locally-based staff are artisans in their own way, so we see this opportunity to work with local artists as a natural extension of what we do.” Lance Forman
In its second year, Hackney WickED is making a huge impression not just on the local community, but on the contemporary arts world as a whole. It comprises a series of events, exhibitions, open studios and street parties across a host of venues look set to make a huge impact on the London arts scene, showcasing some of the city’s leading contemporary talent.
