Marriott supports Childrens Magical Taxi Tour
2009-11-01
Opened in 2004, the London Marriott West India Quay Hotel has firmly established itself as the leading five-star hotel in Canary Wharf. The towering glass and steel building has a dramatic curved shape which offers stunning panoramic views of London and boasts 301 stylish guest rooms and 47 beautifully appointed Marriott Executive apartments smartly designed for the extended stay.
The team at West India Quay consistently support local initiatives and charities. Probably the most rewarding is the annual Children’s Magical Taxi Tour which sees terminally ill children from the Docklands area surprised with an early breakfast in Canary Wharf and an exciting ride with family in a London Black cab to Disneyland Paris!!
On the afternoon of Thursday 1st October, associates of the hotel including General Manager, Katrin Hentszel donned the chef’s whites and set about the task of making 450 packed lunches which were to be given out the next morning when this magical journey begins.
6am, Friday 2nd October…….An early breakfast at the famous East Winter Garden Centre and a table of 450 packed lunches await the families and taxi drivers who are about to start their journey to Paris.
830am, Friday 2nd October……armed and ready, 450 brightly decorated taxi cabs filled with local children are waived off from Canary Wharf by local volunteers, a brass band and hotel associates.
The London Marriott West India Quay Hotel & Executive Apartments is proud to support its local community and looks forward to sharing more activities in the future……stay tuned!!!!
