Valentines, jugglers, Haiti and mystic minds at Wilton's
2010-02-28
February may be the cruellest month weather wise, but having fixed down some of our more rebellious floorboards on the top floor we are a little better insulated than before. We are still being a location this month, saving up for a very extensive drainage survey, which is more interesting than it sounds! We will be the location for Marie Claire, The Observer, Burke and Hare the movie, two weddings and one children's art exhibition.
For our own part we have squeezed in some entertainment for your delectation, mostly of the music hall variety, with a few new twists and changes.
First up is that our bar is closed this week, apologies for this, our rentees are using nearly every corner of the building, but from 14th Feb it should be business as usual.
Valentines - our fabulous Tiny Wallops have their own hilarious take on all things love. The fizz will be flowing on the evening of Sunday 14th February, dates, singles or mates, this is the last whack of the Wallops for a while so join us for the last laugh.
Haiti - we don't think anyone can ignore this terrible disaster and several of our supporters have asked if they can use Wilton's for fundraisers. The first informal one last Friday was a great success and raised over £400 in donations - well done Ed Mayhew for getting that one together.
The second is a larger affair, this event will raise money by selling tickets for a gala production, supported by huge stars of the comedy world, in the main auditorium. This event will be on Sunday 21st February. It's very hard not to spill the beans on the mystery guest, please support!
Magic - so Katherine Rhodes, our magical wonder is going solo with some truly mind blowing evenings. Supported by our specially scouted, finest new talents, each evening will be punctuated with moving songs, the best circus acts and the odd special guest. First night is Thursday 25th February.
Bookslam - London's "trendiest" literary club night, once the preserve of nice West Londonders has found a new home, across the borders - out here in the East. This is the beginning of a brilliant new friendship, please see our website for the lineup. Friday 26th February, tickets only £6.
Kreutzers - and to round off the month a truly inspiring evening of the choicest classical quartet pieces. Mozart dominates but we are also extremely honoured to be launching the first CD of David Matthews' quartets. Sunday 28th February.
