A YACHT hotel larger than One Churchill Place could be moving into South Dock.

Developer Aquiva is hoping to revive its three-year-old plan to base a 170-metre floating hotel next to Canary Wharf, providing 180 cabins for high-end corporate users.

The seven-deck ship would measure nearly 15 metres more than Canary Wharf's Barclays tower and become the world's largest yacht - bigger than the 162-metre Dubai megayacht and Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich's upcoming 147-metre Eclipse craft.

The giant boat will feature a fine dining area, a gym, a spa, bars and conference facilities.

An application has been lodged with Tower Hamlets Council, and it hopes to be able to unveil the superyacht in time for London's 2012 Olympics.

Aquiva are also holding discussions with dock owners British Waterways about the plan. It also hopes to expand its fleet by mooring other yachts in Dubai and Singapore.
